CENTRAL GOVERNMENT AGREES TO SCRAP HYDEL PROJECTS ON GANGA IN UTTARKHAND

The 78 years old Environmentalist Sri.GD Agarwal,former professor of IIT,on 24th August, 2010, broke his 36-day fast.He was offered juice by Union Environment Minister, mr.Jairam ramesh handed over the letter scrapping all the Hydel Projects on the ganga river in Utterkhand.minister informed that the Union government had accepted all the demands of the environmentalist. The letter says that they agreed to include Mr.Agarwal and five others, whose names would be recommended by the environmentalists, as non-official members of the National ganga River basin Authority(NGBRA).
